Chapter 1163: Barred from Entry
Chapter 1163: Barred from Entry
"We... We're from the Silver Horn Rhinoceros Tribe and the Cloud Spot Tiger Tribe," Sang Tu replied in a nervous manner.
The guard was rather taken aback to hear this, and he turned to his companion with an inquisitive look in his eyes.
"I've never heard of those two tribes. They don't seem to be among the top one hundred primordial tribes," the latter said with a shake of his head.
"We are a pair of small tribes on the territory of the Earth Dragon Tribe, so it's no surprise that you haven't heard of us," Yun Bao said, and it was clear that he was also feeling very anxious.
Both of the guards' expressions darkened slightly upon hearing this.
"Don't you know what's happening on Eight Plains Mountain at the moment? Hurry up and go back to where you came from!" one of the guards snapped with a dismissive wave.
"We're aware that the blood inheritance ceremony is going to be held on Eight Plains Mountain, and we're here to take part in the ceremony," Sang Tu hurriedly said.
A chorus of raucous laughter instantly rang out in response.
At this moment, another convoy had just arrived at the neighboring city gate, and it consisted of around seventy to eighty horned ape-like creatures, all of which were clad in suits of copper armor.
They were all extremely tall and imposing, standing at over twice the height of Sang Tu, and they were observing the pair of small tribes with mocking sneers on their faces.
Sang Tu took a glance at them before hurriedly averting his gaze. This was the Qing Ape Tribe, one of the top one hundred primordial tribes and one that was renowned for its bloodlust and aggression.
One of the eight former True Spirit Kings, the Zhuyan, had left behind four children, which gave rise to four different tribes, and the most powerful of those tribes was none other than the Qing Ape Tribe.
In contrast with the discriminatory treatment directed at the Silver Horn Rhinoceros Tribe and the Cloud Spot Tiger Tribe, the guards at the other city gate were far more polite to the Qing Ape Tribe, allowing them through without conducting any checks.
"Hurry up and get out of here!" the two guards at the city gate dismissed in an impatient manner.
"We've brought a bloodline descendant of one of the eight True Spirit Kings with us, so we are entitled to enter the city," Sang Tu revealed, having been backed into a corner.
The pair of guards clearly faltered slightly upon hearing this, and before they had a chance to respond, a thunderous roar suddenly rang out from nearby.
"You've brought with you a descendant of a True Spirit King bloodline, you say?"
Sang Tu shuddered as he turned to discover a Qing Ape being with a scar on his face approaching them with a furious expression.
Sang Tu hurriedly lowered his head, yet before he had a chance to explain, he felt a burst of tremendous force crash into his chest, sending him flying back through the air.
He crashed heavily against the city wall behind him, then slowly slid down onto the ground with blood gushing out of his mouth.
Yun Bao immediately turned to help him, only to be kicked to the ground as well, and the Qing Ape being stomped down onto him with a derisive expression as he scoffed, "You expect me to believe that a pair of pathetic little tribes like yours are in possession of an heir of one of the True Spirit King bloodlines?"
Under the force of the Qing Ape being's stomp, Yun Bao wasn't able to utter any sound aside from a strangled gurgle.
The Qing Ape being possessed early-High Zenith Stage power, and that was far too much for him to contend with.
"Despicable scum!" the Qing Ape being spat in a derisive fashion as he raised his foot in preparation to stomp Yun Bao to death.
None of the bystanders attempted to intervene. Instead, they were all eager to see the bloodshed that was to come.
Sang Tu struggled to his feet before attempting to rush to Yun Bao's aid, only to be stopped in his tracks by the two guards.
"Get out of here! You're going to get yourself killed!" one of them warned in an urgent voice, but Sang Tu paid no heed to the warning as his body abruptly swelled to several times its original size, and a giant, black stone ax appeared in his grasp.
However, before he had a chance to do anything, the two guards also swelled drastically in size before laying the blades of their halberds against Sang Tu's neck, and one of them yelled in an enraged voice, "If you have a death wish, then you should've just said so from the beginning!"
Meanwhile, the Qing Ape was already beginning to stomp down toward Yun Bao's head, clearly intending to kill him.
All of the Silver Horn Rhinoceros and Cloud Spot Tiger beings immediately prepared to rush to his aid, even though doing so was sure to spell certain death for them, when a cold voice suddenly rang out from the carriage behind them.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you..."
The voice wasn't very loud, but it was clearly audible to everyone present, and all of the bystanders immediately turned to the carriage with intrigued expressions.
The Qing Ape being faltered slightly upon hearing this, following which he continued to stomp down upon Yun Bao as he sneered, "Oh yeah? What are you going to do about it?"
A bolt of silver lightning shot out of the carriage, instantly arriving before the Qing Ape being.
Before anyone had a chance to see what was happening, the bolt of lightning exploded, and a jolt of numbness ran through the Qing Ape being's entire body as he was sent flying back through the air like a cannonball before crashing into the city wall with a resounding boom.
All of the bystanders were stunned to see this, and they hurriedly turned their attention to Yun Bao's savior, who was naturally none other than Han Li.
He crouched down to help Yun Bao up from the ground, then handed the latter a pill before turning to Sang Tu with his brows slightly furrowed.
It was clear that Han Li was not to be messed with, and the pair of guards hurriedly stepped away from Sang Tu.
Sang Tu stumbled over to Han Li's side, and the latter handed him a pill as well before turning his gaze to the Qing Ape being.
Qing Ape beings possessed tremendous physical constitutions, and even though he had crashed into the city wall with such immense force that cracks had appeared on the wall, he remained largely unscathed as he dusted himself off before rising to his feet.
Han Li didn't want to escalate the conflict any further, so he continued to observe the Qing Ape being with an indifferent expression instead of unleashing any further attacks. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"You're from the Lightning Bird Tribe! Are those two your subordinates?"
The Qing Ape being didn't attack, either, and it was clear that he was a little apprehensive of the Lightning Bird Tribe.
Just like the Qing Ape Tribe, the Lightning Bird Tribe had also inherited the bloodline of one of the eight True Spirit Kings, namely the Kun Peng. Overall, the Lightning Bird Tribe was slightly inferior in power to the Qing Ape Tribe, but it had an extremely powerful and protective chief.
Throughout history, there had been many cases of this chief personally avenging any juniors of his tribe that he held in high regard and had been wronged by others.
"We just want to enter the city, surely there's no need for such a serious conflict," Han Li said in a calm manner.
"I know a lot of people from the Lightning Bird Tribe, do you dare to tell me your name?" the Qing Ape being challenged.
Han Li paid no heed to him as he turned to the pair of guards and asked, "Can we enter the city now?"
"Of course, please go ahead," one of the guards hurriedly replied with a nod.
Han Li turned and made his way back to his carriage, while Sang Tu and Yun Bao were helped up by their subordinates as the convoy prepared to enter the city.
The Qing Ape being was furious at being ignored by Han Li, and he yelled, "I've never heard of a Lightning Bird being like you, so you must be some mixblood mongrel! Someone like you has no right to take part in the ceremony, either!"
For primordial beings, the matter of bloodline was one of extreme importance, and being denounced as a mixblood mongrel was sufficient cause for someone to engage the offender in a battle to the death.
However, Han Li was no primordial being, so the insult carried no sting of him. All he wanted was to enter Primordial Garrison City, then travel to Eight Plains Mountain to save Xiao Bai, so he remained unflustered as he continued to make his way toward his carriage.
However, in the eyes of all of the bystanders, this was a show of weakness and cowardice, and many of them began yelling for Han Li to leave in very unflattering terms.
The Qing Ape being was even more emboldened upon seeing this, and he sprang forward to grab at Han Li from behind as he yelled, "No mixblood mongrel is entering this gate on my watch!"
It was clear that he was striking with full intent to kill, and Han Li's brows furrowed slightly as he heaved an internal sigh.
It seemed that an escalation of the conflict was simply unavoidable.
With that in mind, he swiveled around and made a grab for the Qing Ape being's fist while channeling his bloodline powers and starpower simultaneously.
Arcs of silver lightning sprang out of his body, forming a giant set of Lightning Bird talons that clashed violently against the Qing Ape being's fist.
An earth-shattering explosion rang out as gusts of fierce wind swept through the air in all directions.
Layers upon layers of silver lightning erupted outward incessantly, sending fist-sized balls of silver lightning flying in all directions, and all of the bystanders hurriedly rushed back in retreat.
Some of the nearby carriage-drawing wild beasts had also been stirred up into a panicked frenzy, and the entire scene devolved into complete chaos.
The Qing Ape being was quite surprised to see this. The Lightning Bird Tribe had always been renowned for its speed, and it was definitely inferior to the Qing Ape Tribe when it came to physical strength, yet somehow, Han Li's strength wasn't inferior to his own in the slightest.
What do you think?
